Web 2.0 and Social Media
What is web 2.0 and Social Media? Web 2.0 refers to an obscure concept which has no clear definition but the short of it is it the "newest version" of the internet. We are not using the same tools as we did yesterday on the web. Today's sites have the ability to be super interactive through social media platforms such as RSS Feeds, Blogs, Geo Tagging, Social Media web sites, social bookmarking, articles and press releases, wikis and more.
In other words there are many ways to reach your Target Audience. A successful website must have a marketing plan which utilizes the most up to date methods available to reach their clientele.
Some people say that SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is dead in the wake of the rise of Web 2.0. We disagree we believe that Organic Search Marketing has just begun. People are no longer simply looking for "Gucci purse" in the top ten results of three major search engines. Today there are hundreds of outlets which people look through daily, all of these which give you an opportunity to present your product to the consumer and most of which accept FREE POSTS and allow you to write about any topic of your choosing. Many even have whole clubs dedicated to your products. Imagine getting an article you wrote on your product bookmarked by hundreds of people who are actually interested in that product. Get your article, blog post, press release, or wiki post about the "History of Gucci purses" posted in the "Gucci lovers club" on Myspace.com and in return have it remarked and tagged by all of its members. All the while the article has links to your E-Commerce website which sells "Gucci Purses". You are making record sales and all the while you are still on Page 3 of Google for the keywords "Gucci Purses". To rank in the top 10 of search engines for a keyword like that is a long term and expensive proposition and yes that makes much of what used to be SEO irrelevant these days, however with Web 2.0 we must now move on to SEO 2.0.
